As Head of IT and a server council member for Shift W, I administer its game-server environment and develop its community platform. I also helped the growing community transition into an LLC.

3Wardogs servers
100+Concurrent players per server

Server setup, configuration, ongoing administration, and tooling for the Shift W community.

01 / CURRENT PLATFORM

Community Portal

The current administration platform for Shift W’s Squad and Wardogs servers. It replaced BaneJS, the Whitelist Bot, the Stats Bot, BattleMetrics, and SquadJS, bringing their operational roles into one community platform.

What I work on

Development and maintenance of a consolidated multi-game operations portal with role-based access, live server and player information, moderation, player statistics, VIP/whitelist workflows, and Discord status integration.

Systems administration connection

Platform consolidation, centralized administration, access management, service monitoring, database-backed workflows, and troubleshooting integrations.

Earlier tools & server deployments
EARLIER CUSTOM TOOL

BaneJS

A modular Squad server toolset that connected game-server events and remote administration with plugins, database logging, and community tools. Replaced by the Community Portal.

EARLIER CUSTOM TOOL

Whitelist Bot

Discord-connected whitelist and VIP tooling that translated community roles and membership tiers into game-server access workflows. Replaced by the Community Portal.

EARLIER CUSTOM TOOL

Stats Bot

Bane’s Squad Stats brought player statistics and leaderboards into Discord. Its role is now handled by the Community Portal.

Third-party tooling: I previously configured BattleMetrics and SquadJS. The Community Portal has replaced both in Shift W’s operations.

Previous server deployments: Arma Reforger, Hell Let Loose Vietnam, and Hell Let Loose. These deployments are no longer active.

Beyond
the day job.

Born and raised in Colorado, I’m a husband, gamer, and programmer. Online, I’m known as Bane. I enjoy building software, including a couple of unreleased video games.

I joined Shift W in September 2022, when it was known as the 1st Recon Battalion. I now serve as Head of IT, a server council member, and Colonel Bane within the gaming community.

How my community work grew
  1. SEPTEMBER 2022

    Joined the community

Found a group of people I enjoyed playing with, and saw the potential for its own server infrastructure.

  2. THE FIRST SERVER

    Built a place to train

Started the battalion’s first training server and personally funded it for about a year.

  3. EARLY 2023

    Opened up to more players

Helped launch the first public server as one of the initial tech admins, advising on its setup and operation.

  4. COMMUNITY GROWTH

Helped the community become an LLC

Contributed to the transition of the growing Shift W community into an LLC, alongside my technology leadership responsibilities.

  5. TODAY

    Leading the technology

Head of IT and server council member, supporting the infrastructure, tools, and people behind Shift W.

Let’s talk
about what’s next.
